Children Success Stories
Cindy Cindy is an 11
year old girl who has been in the states for about 2 and a half years. Most children
who leave their home countries often struggle with starting over again with a
new language, new friends, new place to live, etc. Cindy has been incredibly resilient
and not only has increased her knowledge of the English language, but has consistently
been on the honor roll, has received many accolades at school, and recently became
Secretary of her student body. Cindy hopes to be a lawyer when she grows up. With
her current track record, we are confident she will achieve her goals.
Tariq Tariq
is a 18 year old boy from Saudi Arabia. He has been in the states for about four
years and knew little English before arriving to the states. Upon his arrival,
he became very active in the Latin American Youth Center community, participating
in all of their programs. He was recently asked to represent his school at the
Model United Nations School competition. Tariq won his school competition and
was selected to represent the District of Columbia in the International Competition
in the Dominican Republic. Tariq is eager to join the Air Force when he finishes
high school this year.
